What does the Family Benefits Check cover?

The Family Benefits Check is the only free tool in Germany combining all seven major federal family benefits in a single wizard: Kindergeld, Elterngeld, ElterngeldPlus, Kinderzuschlag, Mutterschaftsgeld, Unterhaltsvorschuss and the Günstigerprüfung (child benefit vs. tax allowance). Instead of filling out seven separate calculators, five steps are enough.

Which benefits are assessed?

  • Child benefit259 € per child/month, flat rate, income-independent (§ 66 EStG).
  • Elterngeld67% of net income, 300–1,800 €/month, up to 14 months basic (§§ 1–4 BEEG).
  • KinderzuschlagUp to 297 € per child/month for low-income families above the Bürgergeld threshold (§ 6a BKGG).
  • MutterschaftsgeldMax. 13 €/calendar day from health insurer + employer supplement (§ 24i SGB V).
  • Unterhaltsvorschuss227–394 € monthly for single parents until the child's 18th birthday (§ 2 UhVorschG).

How long does the check take?

On average 60–90 seconds. The check only asks for the minimum information needed to assess entitlements — no registration, no data storage. All calculations run locally in your browser (GDPR-compliant).

What to do after the check?

The check results are indicative values. For each confirmed entitlement you will find a direct link to the specific calculator and the responsible authority (Familienkasse, Elterngeldstelle, Jugendamt). The check does not replace an official assessment — not legal advice within the meaning of § 2 RDG.

Parents who are subject to unlimited income tax in Germany and care for a child are entitled to Kindergeld (€259/month, 2026). Kindergeld is paid until the child turns 18, or up to age 25 if in education or training.
Q.02How much Elterngeld will I receive?
Basic Elterngeld equals 67% of your pre-birth net income — minimum €300/month, maximum €1,800/month. The income cap for couples is €175,000 taxable income.
Q.03Can I receive several family benefits at the same time?
